Ming C. Lowe's "MISSISSIPPI BLACKTOP" Takes a Detour Through Idyllwild
Ming C. Lowe's photographic oddessy is a long, slow drive through the mean streets of the deep south. Stops along the way include crossroads both mythic and real: the room where Bessie Smith died, Sonny Boy Williams grave, and inside (via telephoto lens) the notoriously brutal and corrupt Mississippi State Penitentiary immortalized by Mose Allison in "Parchment Farm" - The Mississippi Delta's iconic and legendary characters and places along "Blues Highway" 61 filtered through the harsh light of the modern day south.
Opens Aug. 4. Artspresso Gallery, 84380 North Circle Drive, Idyllwild. Reception for the artist, 2-4 PM. 951-659-6162
